It’s hard to believe we closed out another season (2015-16), but we are excited for next season (2016-17) and the opportunities and growth that awaits the entire program.  As we reflect on the growth of the program this season (2015-16), we are thankful for the support and contributions we have received.  We have begun the planning and implementation for next season (2016-17) and look forward to your continued support and contributions. 

On April 9th at Moravian College the Lady Slater Basketball Program volunteered to help with the 2016 Pennsylvania Miss Amazing Event.   This event provides opportunities for girls and women with disabilities to build confidence and self-esteem in a supportive environment. The players and coaches became ‘buddies’ to the participants and helped to encourage and support them throughout the day.   GREAT JOB LADIES!

Sam Champa and Coach Bill Bisci represented the Lady Slater Basketball Program on Sunday March 20.  The clinic which is for athletes with special needs focused on the fundamentals of basketball in a fun, inclusive setting.  Pictured with Sam and Coach Bisci is Garret.

The girls basketball program has won four straight contests ( Saucon Valley, Wilson, Moravian Academy, Palmerton).  Last night's win qualified the program for the Colonial League Playoffs (Saturday February 6th) and the District XI Playoffs (TBD).  GREAT JOB LADIES!!!

On January 30^th 2016 the Bangor Area High School Girls' Basketball Team will be host to East Stroudsburg South.  Please join us in honoring senior #42 Sam Champa.  The ceremony will begin at 6:45 pm. 

On January 15^th the Bangor Area High School Girls' Basketball Program held their annual Cancer Awareness Game.  The event raised $722 and will be donated to the American Cancer Society for scientific research.  This event was successful because of the many organizations that worked together for this common cause, UMBT Slater Youth Basketball, Foot Prints In The Sand Relay Team, The Wilson Girls Basketball Program, The Triple Threat Basketball Club, The Bangor Girls Basketball Program and The Lady Slater Booster Club. GREAT JOB!!!!

The Via Basketball Clinic for Athletes with Special Needs was held on Sunday at DeSales University's Billera Hall in Center Valley...  Coach Bisci represented the Girls Basketball Program.

Tryouts for girls basketball begin tomorrow... A revised schedule has been posted on the website since the middle school gym in unavailable...

Tryouts begin tomorrow November 16^th.  All female student athletes who want to tryout must submit a physical packet to the trainers office ...  Also the Middle School Gym is not available for use so a revised tryout schedule has been implemented...

The Bangor High School Girls’ Basketball Coaching Staff and the Triple Threat  Basketball Club of Bangor teamed up to teach the fundamentals of the game of basketball this fall in the Bill Pensyl Gymnasium at Bangor Area High School. Girls in grades 1 through 8 participated. The events took place Sunday evenings from 5:30-7:30pm, October 4^th through November 1^st .   Admission was free with the donation of a canned good item. 

The donations will be given to the Portland Upper Mt. Bethel Food Pantry.  This food pantry has been in our community for over 20 years and serves over 350 families in the Slate Belt Area

Any female student-athlete who plans on trying out for the Bangor School District Basketball Program should plan on attending a meeting at 7:00 pm in the High School Cafeteria on Monday November 2nd 2015... Parents of these student athletes are strongly encouraged to attend as well.
