Team Policies

Dear player and parents,

Please find below some additions to the Bangor Area School District Athletic Philosophy and Objectives packet which explains the drug and alcohol policy, academic eligibility, and disciplinary policies. The player as well as the parents should read these guidelines carefully and bring attention to any concerns you may have by contacting Coach Wilson by e-mail (wilsonke@bangorsd.org). After reading and understanding the policies set forth, both the player and the parents should sign the acknowledgement sheet provided at the end of the packet. NO PLAYER WILL BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE IN ANY GAME WITHOUT THE SIGNATURE OF THE PARENT!

I.          POLICIES

A.) Players are expected to participate in all practices, scrimmages, and games. The schedule is on slaterathletics.org. Failure of a player to attend practices or games due to an unexcused reason will result in lost playing time. See below.

1. The player will not lose playing time for missing practice for the following: weddings, funerals, family emergencies, medical emergencies (Must have doctor’s note), or extra help from a teacher.

  1. Each player will have a completed evaluation (performed by the coaching staff) based on all of the skills needed to be a complete soccer player. The varsity or junior varsity teams will be selected according to evaluations.

  2. Any player concerned with their level of playing time should bring their concerns to the coach. Parents should follow the guidelines set forth by the athletic department in the parent/coach communication pamphlet.

  1. Players will be permitted one Personal Day during the season for situations that occur with prior permission by the coaching staff. These days may not be used the day before a game and only one person may take one per day.

  1. When the varsity and JV games are being played, any player who is not on that roster shall sit on the bench and watch their teammates play. At an away game, a player may ride home with their parents after all games are completed. If a player does not comply, it will affect their playing time.

  1. Each week, a different class (freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior) will be responsible for handling all equipment for practices, home, and away games. If a player does not comply, it will affect their playing time.
