Slater Soccer Alumni Doing Good Things in College Athletics

Some Alumni doing well in College Athletics at Juniata College.

Jon Phillips 13', earned the starting spot in goal for Juniata in his freshman season. Jonah Ruggiero 12', is in his second year at Juniata has started several games at Mid-field. Seth Ruggiero 10', is the team captain at Juniata and has started every year since he was a freshmen.

These three Bangor Alumni have helped Juniata's Men Soccer team post it best season in school history. They went 12-5-2, (school record) qualified for the conference play-offs (first time ever) as the final and 4th seed. They upset Catholic the #1 seed 3-1 last week with all three Bangor Boys starting. They lost the Conference Championship 1-0 this past Saturday. The didn't play Jon, (mistake).

The team has had it's best season ever and I believe the three Slater's might have something to do with that. Don't forget, those same three young men helped Bangor Boys Soccer have it's best seasons ever in 2009 & 2010.

Juniata now moves on into the ECAC DIII Championships this week.

Wade White 13' traded his soccer boots for running shoes in College and has been named All Conference and All NCAA Southern Region in is first season at Nova Southeastern University. Wade is the #2 distance runner for the Sharks and has already broken one school record at NSU.

Basketball fundraiser tonight at the Slate Pub!

The Boys Basketball Booster Club is holding a fundraiser at The Slate Pub in Pen Argyl on Tuesday, September 10th from noon until closing. 20% of all food purchased during that time, either dine in or take out, will be donated to the Boy's Basketball Booster Club. This is a fantastic way to raise money for the program without having to go out, take time from your busy schedule, and ask people to buy something!! Everyone has to eat and I'm sure mom or dad wouldn't mind a night off from cooking. Please tell everyone you know to come out and support the boy's basketball team!
